PET reveals radiation-induced cardiac toxicity
A significant proportion of patients receiving radiotherapy for left-sided breast cancer exhibit cardiovascular disease 10 to 15 years after treatment, attributed to incidental cardiac irradiation. To assess this adverse effect in more detail, Omar El-Sherif, from Western University and the London Regional Cancer Program, and colleagues have used hybrid PET/MRI to longitudinally study radiation-related changes in cardiac function. {read more here}
